COLISEUM DRAWINGS FOR THE REMAKE OF BEN-HUR (2016)

 

Judah Ben-Hur, a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother, an officer in the Roman army, returns to his homeland after years at sea to seek revenge, but finds redemption.

 

I was part of the pre-production team designing the Coliseum, I mainly focused on establishing the general model of the Coliseum and designing the spina (the central part separating both sides of the tracks). The traditional architecture of a Spina was dictated by a lot of rules but the director wanted to try out several options ranging from a traditional design to a fascist inspired design.

 

During all that intense action did you see the backgrounds? I worked on that! ho wait, nobody saw the movie....
